‘Made of Light’ the first Tymon Dogg solo album for 26 years will be released on 20 October 2015, distributed by Proper.
Meanwhile you can buy a preview copy direct from the label here.
We hope you love the album and let us know you favourite tracks?
On Saturday 11 July 2015, 7.30pm, at the Stade outdoor performance area in Hastings Old Town, Tymon will be performing first in the collaborative performance, ‘A Wave of Dreams’ and then doing a solo spot. This gig is totally free thanks to Hastings Borough Council.
‘A Wave of Dreams’ is a mesmerising performance of Louis Aragon’s 1924 eponymous prose-poem-essay set in evocative psychedelic soundscapes that truly bring it alive.
The text is a compelling, lyrical first-hand account of the early days of surrealist experimentation in Paris. Aragon vividly describes and philosophically evaluates the inner adventures, hallucinations and encounters with ‘the Marvellous’ which took the young surrealists to the brink of insanity.
The performance is a collaboration with composer and musician Alex Thomas and actor Alex Walker. Tymon composed and performs approximately half of the work. There will be a guest appearance by poet/actor Niall McDevitt.
Tymon’s solo spot will feature several songs from his new album ‘Made of Light’ and is described in the brochure as ‘a rare chance to witness Tymon’s truly unique solo work’.
Nichola Bruce’s short film based on an extract from ‘A Wave of Dreams’ will be screened before and after the performances.
May 10th 2015 The Dacoits core group of Tymon Dogg, Antonio Arias and Richard Dudanski was joined by Steve Finnerty, guitarist with the Alabama 3, Jem Finer, banjo player with the Pogues and JJ Macguca of Solea Morente y Los Evangelistas. An Anglo-Spanish supergroup!!
Picture left to right: Steve Finnerty on guitar (Alabama 3), Jem Finer on banjo (The Pogues), Tymon Dogg (multi-instrumentalist/vocals), (obscured Richard Dudanski on drums … sorry Richard!!) Antonia Arias (6-string bass and vocals) and J.J. Macguca (keyboards).
Richard Dudanski on drums can be glimpsed on this one with JJ doing great stuff on keyboards.
Yay!!!
All good…
Tymon has been developing a collaborative project in Spain with Richard Dudanski (PiL and 101ers) and Antonias Arias (091, Lagartija Nick). The result, ‘Tymon Dogg and the Dacoits‘ made their debut at legendary Granada underground club ‘La Planta Baja’ in June 2014.
In between recording sessions for his new album ‘Made of Light’ Tymon and friends have continued to develop this unique sound. Antonia Arias flew to London to play with Tymon at KoKo in Camden in March 2015.
On May 10 2015 the Dacoits sound was expanded when they were joined by Alabama 3 guitarist, Steve Finnerty, Pogues member Jem Finer and keyboard player J.J. Macguca of Solea Morente y Los Evangelistas for a gig at Granda’s Planta Baja, this time to mark the Granada premier of a new film about Joe Strummer’s time in the dream city.
Will this new Anglo-Spanish collaboration of legendary musicians continue and expand? We sure hope so! Watch this space!
‘Pound of Grain’ is a powerful anthem by Tymon Dogg challenging the use of so much of earth’s resources to grow grain in order – not to feed humans – but to feed livestock in order to fatten up their cow flesh or sheep flesh or chicken flesh for humans to eat.
As a result, the richer nations eat more meat and no grains are available for the basic staple diet of the poor in the developing world. The starving can’t afford grain because it is so much in demand by farmers (in the developed and developing world) feeding their meat-producing beings ( enslaved animals) to provide steak, burgers, chops etc.
In this song, Tymon Dogg challenges this paradigm and suggests maybe we should feed the starving and stop animals becoming a meat-producing commodity.
With lines from Leonardo da Vinci and Joe Strummer, this Tymon Dogg song – illustrated in the link below by no-holds-barred graphic artist Claire Palmer – challenges this short-sighted and selfish approach to the use of earth’s very limited resources and our attitude to the loving, passive and trustful animals with whom we share this planet.

Tymon was part of a fab line-up to launch a new film about Joe Strummer losing his car in Granada one summer years ago. It was a good storyline for a film and the gig afterwards was a real treat with short sets from MC5’s Wayne Kramer, Tymon Dogg, Antonio Arias from Lagartika Nick and The Dacoits, Seggs from the Ruts and more. Alabama 3’s Larry Love and Aurora turned up just in time to give the afterparty a bit of glitz and glamour (sadly they missed their slot at the actual gig!)
Tymon got some nice reviews:
“Strummer’s fellow 101-er Tymon Dogg reaffirms his reputation as the king of gypsy punk”
26 March 2015 review of gig at Koko’s Camden NW1
“Tymon Dogg … gave a true troubadour’s performance with vocals and violin on ‘Lose This Skin’ and ‘X Ray Style’, accompanied by Antonio Arias from 091 on guitar”.

Tymon played with an all star line up at a gig to mark the launch of a new film about Joe Strummer’s 1980s runaway days in Spain called ‘I need a Dodge’. Also on the bill were the legendary Wayne Kramer (MC5), the Ruts and Larry Love and Aurora from the Alabama 3. Here’s a photo of one of Tymon’s solo moments (by photographer Malcolm Glover)
